Hardware:
NetBook - Update II: - Succesfully install Windows 7 Ultimate on my NetBook on unused partition. Able to triple-boot Windows 7, Mac OS X Leopard and Windows XP using instructions below and NeoSmart's EasyBCD. (For Windows XP: Need to copy NTLDR, NTDETECT.COM and BOOT.INI to Windows 7 Drive. Create an entry for Windows XP and point to Windows 7 Drive).
NetTop - Update: - Successfully update to 10.5.7 using same method for NetBook listed below. Install Windows 7 Ultimate on unused partition. Able to dual-boot with Windows 7 and Mac OS X Leopard using instructions from GearDiary.
NetTop - Original: - Purchase MSI Wind NetTop 100 from NewEgg.com. Use combination of CloneTool Hatchery for Mac OS X and XXClone for Windows to clone Mac and Windows partitions from MSI Wind U100. Migrate Windows and Mac data from my original desktop, MSI mPC 915 from External Backup. Use new MSI Wind NetTop as Primary Desktop for Home.
NetBook - Update: - Successfully update to 10.5.7 from 10.5.4 (MSIWindOSx86.iso) using instructions from MSI Wind Forums. Download and install Combo Updater to 10.5.7 from Apple. Before restarting, apply MSI OSx86 Upgrade Pack v1.5.
NetBook - Original: - Purchased MSI Wind U100 Netbook from TigerDirect for less than $345 (including Taxes and Shipping). System came with Windows XP Home SP3 pre-installed. Installed Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.4 (from MSIWindOSx86.iso) using ASUS External DVD-R Drive. Graphics, Sound and Networking recognized natively. RealTek Wireless works using included RealTek WLAN Client Utility for Mac OS X. ASUS External DVD-R Drive recognized natively and burns CD's and DVD's. Able to get Apple's DVD Player to recognize External DVD Drive by follwing these instructions.
Desktop - Update II: - Sucessfully installed 10.5.4 (MSIWindOSx86.iso) onto External SATA Drive. Use Ghost 2003 to clone Windows XP Partiton. Use Migration Assistant to migrate Folders and Applications from Tiger Install. Download and install patched GMA 900/915 Drivers for Leopard. Install Mouse Locator to help prevent tearing.
Desktop - Update: - Successfully installed 10.4.10 (mac dot Nub) along with Windows XP with Service Pack 3. Migrated Data and Applications from 10.4.6 install. Patched Graphics (Full QE/CI) using Diabolik's GMA Driver. Patched RealTek Audio by copying AppleAzaliaAudio.kext from 10.4.6 Install. Patched Airport by copying IO80211Family.kext from 10.4.6 install. Install Apple's 10.4.11 Delta Upgrade using OSx86Scene's 10.4.11 Mini Guide. After some testing, clone partition using CloneTool Hatchery.
Desktop - Original: - Custom built from MSI mPC 915 based on specs from OSx86 Project's Hardware Wiki. Installed Mac OS X natively using Myzar's 10.4.6 DVD-ROM. Graphics, Sound and Networking recognized natively. Netgear WG311T recognized as Airport. Installed Apple Front Row and works with Griffin's AirClick USB.
Services:
Configured the following Mac OS X Services: Apache Web Server (http), Apple's Secure FTP (sftp), Apple's Secure Shell (ssh), Apple Remote Desktop and Redstone Software's VINE Server (vnc), iTunes Media Server by MyTunes RSS (iTunes) and Lightweight Directory Server by OpenDS.org (ldap).
Future Projects: Install Mac OS X Snow Leopard on Desktop. Would like to setup "Front Row"-like Media Server (if one exists) over the Internet.
X-Bench Comparison:
My MSI mPC 915 with Intel Celeron D 2.4ghz compares remarkably similar to the Mac Mini with Intel Core Solo 1.5 gHz.
